At times, I get annoyed when I check the news and I see poor people getting angry over the high prices of food and rice, and how they demand that the government do something about it. And here comes the government, trying to "save" these people by subsidizing NFA rice at a huge huge loss just so the people can get what they want. Now NFA is predicting around a deficit of 43 billion pesos this year alone! The government is doing all these losses mostly for the poor, and yet they still manage to complain and complain about everything.
Do they not realize that much of the money the government is using for those low cost rice comes from the pockets of the middle-upper class citizens, who pay taxes!!?? And they still complain! We don't complain that much, why should they? They are not contented with what the government is trying to do for them, which is to provide low cost rice. I guess the only time they will stop complaining is when they get everything for free.

This is why I don't agree much with feeding programs. The effect is short term.

i definitely agree wiht the sentiment.
likewise in rallies where majority of the people there don't pay taxes and yet demands this and that.
@dayg I heard that Chinese proverb when I used to play Civ IV. :) Anyway, I still think the root cause of the problem we our facing is that we just don't prioritize education.
