random thoughts

I was asked, or let me rephrase that, I was forced to write an article for our department’s upcoming newsletter about a recent training that I joined. It was the OnTrac certification program that I opted to join, which kept me very busy for two weeks. I didn’t realize that writing a simple article would take up so much of my time today! I kept rereading that article and it sounded so… boring and confusing. Unfortunately. I have no idea how to fix it and deadline’s just around the corner.

Anyway, what I really wanted to write about was our experience last Saturday at Trinoma. After a long time, I finally got to watch a movie in a cinema once again! And I did not expect that a movie would now cost me 170 pesos (perhaps I should get back to downloading again). Anyway, we ended up watching The Girl with The Dragon Tattoo.

I’ve been wanting to watch this movie because for one, I’ve heard great things about the movie itself, and second, I am a fan of Stieg Larsson Millenium series. To be honest, I haven’t read The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, but I did get to read the second book of the series which is The Girl Who Played Fire, and I loved it! I was so intrigued by Lisbeth.

You might be wondering how I ended up reading book 2 over book 1. Well, at the time I was in Canada and I wanted to read the series so I ended up borrowing the book from my aunt, but someone borrowed book 1 so she offered book #2. She said it would still make sense even if I didn’t read book 1, and so I read it and loved it. Unfortunately, I was due back to Manila, thus was not able to get to reading book 1 again.

Anyway, going back to the movie… I really liked how Rooney Mara portrayed Lisbeth. It was exactly how I imagined her to be! And as usual, David Fincher created another masterpiece.

Although the movie was great, the night ended somber for the three of us as I lost my parking ticket, and worst of all, Vicky lost her cellphone. Two losses in one night. What a sad way to end the night.

But as sad as it was that night, the next day brought us good news. Someone in Trinoma found Vicky’s phone and returned it to us! What a blessing! Just goes to show that there still are surprises out there, and that honest people still exist!
