BC Lions!

One more thing I can finally cross out on the list of things I want to experience is… watching a live Football game! Nope, not soccer, but the hard core American Football sport!

My friend from the gym has season tickets for the BC Lions home game and last July 22 was a home game so he invited me (or I invited myself) to watch. It’s the first time I’ve watched this sport live. I used to only watch football from the movies and maybe some highlights from ESPN or TSN, but not watch the whole game.

BC Lions is British Columbia’s home grown football team in the Canadian Football League (CFL). If USA has NFL, Canada has its own version which is the CFL. Although NFL is popular in the states, I don’t think CFL is nearly as popular in Canada as it wants it to be. It might be because Canada is more of a hockey country, just like how Philippines is a basketball country.

Mind you, I’m not really a great big fan of American Football. Perhaps because it was never big in the Philippines or maybe it’s just too much testosterone. Surprisingly, I really enjoyed watching this match! I was into the game! My friend was kind enough to teach me the rules of the game throughout the match. By the end of the game, I knew what a 1st down, 3rd down, yards gained, punt was!

And you know how it is in live games, everyone’s just in it! I heard a guy seating a couple rows behind me shouting “Knock his head off!!!” and then another lady a couple of rows down dancing like crazy! It was all fun. As for me, I ended up stomping my feet (they do that to distract the opponents while they’re making their plays), shouting and cheering for the big boys.

Unfortunately, BC Lions lost though. But what the heck, it was a fun night, my first live football match, and that’s another first for me!

Australian Open 2011

I haven't watched tennis avidly for the longest time. I remember back in high school, when I loved watching the game. I watched Martina Hingis, Steffi Graf, Jennifer Capriati play the best women's tennis at that time. On the men's side, it was the time of Agassi, Patrick Rafter, Michael Chang, and Brazilian French Open winner Gustavo Kuerten. Kuerten I remember distinctly because he had curly hair, he was unseeded, and he won two consecutive French Open grand slams.

And now, I'm watching again. Been watching Australian Open for a couple of days now. I'm still rooting for my favorite - Kim Clijsters. Wozniacki, the other semifinalist lost to Li Na. So whoever wins against Clijsters and Zvonoreva goes on to the finals against Li Na.

As for the men's draw - stick to one ako, Roger Federer pa din!

SNES and Secret of Mana

The past few days, I've come back to the kid in me and decided to play one of the best Role Playing Games ever made in the history of the Nintendo game console - Secret of Mana. We don't have our Super Nintendo (SNES) anymore so my brother taught me how to setup an emulator, including using an actual playstation controller to simulate the original SNES controller.

I love this game, even before Final Fantasy VII (This is the only version of Final Fantasy that I enjoyed playing). I always enjoyed naming the three main characters of this game! I also liked the level up, skill up concept.

For some reason, this game comes to my mind when we talk about SNES. SNES was a popular game console that came out right after Nintendo, and right before the Sony Play Station (PS1). I still remember the days when my brother and I will fight for who plays the game console. The last game console we had was PS1. I guess we all got over game consoles after that. It's either we're getting older, or that personal computers just took over our lives.

Playing Diablo

I've been hooked at playing diablo again the past weeks. I always used Amazon just because #1 she is a girl, #2 she looks best among the girl characters. Anyway, for a change, I decided to pick the Paladin character. This is the first time I've tried playing Paladin and the build I chose to do is the Hammerdin build. I'm currently at level 37 and thanks to Chase, I already have some really cool items at hand. Check out the screen shot I have below:

Look at that item! +1 to Paladin skills! Makes my blessed hammer even stronger!
